Studio family photography does not have to be posed and static. With a a few homey touches and some comfortable clothes, and a little music, your clients can feel right at home. Natural photography sessions create an atmosphere in which you are able to truly tell your client’s story. It’s about capturing the unique details about a person, their mood, and preserving who they are. Each image shows us a little bit more about who they are. This is my goal for every photo session whether a family, newborn, or senior portrait session.
On a cold winter day a few weeks ago, my daughter and I spent some time in the studio I rent in Minneapolis. My goal for this session was to preserve the essence of her age. She is thirteen years old. What a challenging, yet amazing time in her life! She is bordering an age of independence while still hanging on to her lovely young girl qualities. She has big thoughts and aspirations, while embracing the naivety of her age. She is more aware of her appearance, while still being able to live with a free spirit! She is gentle, yet strong in her convictions, and, at times, just a goofy girl. All of these somewhat contradictory qualities make up my thirteen year old wonder! She inspires my work, and the following images are a bit of her story.
